Coliseum Tournament Rules
1. General Tournament Rules
Eligibility
- Age Requirements: All participants must be at least 18 years old to enter any tournament.
- Geographic Restrictions: Players from all regions are welcome, but they must comply with their local laws regarding online gaming and cash prizes.
- Account Requirements: Participants must have a Coliseum account to register for tournaments.
Code of Conduct
- Sportsmanship and Fair Play: All participants must exhibit good sportsmanship and maintain respect for other players and tournament staff. Any form of unsportsmanlike conduct, including but not limited to harassment, bullying, or cheating, is strictly prohibited.
- Prohibited Behavior: Cheating, hacking, exploiting g^ame mechanics, and any form of unauthorized assistance are prohibited. Any player caught engaging in such behavior will be immediately disqualified and banned from future tournaments. Cheating detection can be performed either:
- by the game editor with their anti-cheat softwares,
- by the tournament organizer with their post-games analysis,
- and in the future, by the community itself with the help of our decentralized protocol.
Registration
- How to Register: Participants can register for tournaments through the Coliseum platform by selecting the desired tournament and completing the registration form.
- Requirements: Participants must have an active game account connected to their Coliseum account to register to a related tournament.
- Registration Deadlines: Registration for each tournament closes as soon as the number of available seats is reached or just before the tournament start time
Entry Fees
- Amount and Payment Methods: Entry fees vary by tournament and are displayed on the tournament registration page. Payments can be made in our native token that you can purchase on our platform through our payment processor via credit card or by swapping or with supported cryptocurrencies.
- Refund Policy: Entry fees are non-refundable except in the event of tournament cancellation or significant changes to the tournament structure.
2. Tournament Structure
Format
- Types of Formats: Tournaments may be structured as arenas, single elimination, double elimination, round-robin, or other formats as specified in the tournament details.
- Seeding: Seeding is determined based on player rankings, previous tournament performance, or randomly depending on the tournament structure and the related game. See in the tournament details.
Match Scheduling
- Scheduling: Matches are scheduled by the tournament organizers and will be communicated to participants via the Coliseum platform. Players are responsible for checking their match times and being available to compete. In some cases such as arenas, matches can start when the player wants it anytime during the tournament.
3. Game-Specific Rules
Game Settings
- Default Settings: Each game has specific default settings that must be used during matches. These settings will be detailed on the tournament page.
- Allowed Modifications: Any permitted modifications to the default settings will be listed. Unauthorized modifications will result in penalties.
Match Rules
- Rounds/Maps: The number of games per tournament will be specified for each tournament. For example, an arena doesn't have a limit other that the duration of the tournament.
- Time Limits: Any time limits for matches will be stated. Players must adhere to these limits to avoid penalties.
Victory Conditions
- Determining Winners: The method for determining match winners (e.g., highest score, fastest completion) will be specified for each tournament.
Disconnection and Lag
- Connectivity Issues: Generally speaking, disconnections and lag are not the responsibility of the organizer. Players are encouraged to ensure stable internet connections before matches.
- Rematch Policies: Conditions under which rematches will be granted will be specified by the organizer.
4. Prizes
Prize Structure
- Distribution: The prize pool distribution for each tournament will be detailed on each tournament page.
- Conditions: Players must meet all eligibility requirements and follow all rules to receive prizes. Any cheating or non sportsmanchip attempt will result in an immediate loss of prize pool.
Payout
- Payout Method: Prizes will be paid out directly in the Coliseum platform in the native token.
- Taxes: Winners are responsible for any taxes associated with their prize winnings.
5. Disputes and Conduct
Dispute Resolution
- Filing a Dispute: Participants must file disputes within 24 hours of the tournament in question. Disputes must include relevant evidence (e.g., screenshots, video). At a later stage, the protocol will automatically offer the option to open a cheating case which will be dealt with accordingly. See the white paper for more information.
- Resolution Process: At first, tournament staff will review disputes and make a final decision within 48 hours. At a later stage, the protocol will automatically manage it.
Penalties
- Types of Penalties: Warnings, match forfeitures, disqualifications, and bans may be issued for rule violations.
6. Legal
Disclaimer
- Limitation of Liability: Coliseum is not responsible for any technical issues or other problems that may occur during participation in tournaments.
Privacy Policy
- Data Handling: All participant data will be handled in accordance with Coliseum's privacy policy. Personal information will not be shared with third parties without consent.
Changes to Rules
- Rule Modifications: Coliseum reserves the right to modify these rules at any time. Participants will be notified of significant changes via email and the Coliseum platform.
- Notification Procedures: Any changes to the rules will be posted on the tournament page and emailed to registered participants.
